Protective Cover Design Brief Checklist for OEM and Private-Label Buyers

0 120 0

For OEM and private-label buyers, a clear design brief helps JK Covers understand the product, intended use, and requirements before sampling or production. JK Covers has manufactured custom protective covers since 2009 for brands, importers, distributors, private-label buyers and equipment suppliers, supported by a documented quality management system, and each project is reviewed on its own requirements.

Buyer Context

Start by explaining what the cover is for and how it will be used. State whether the cover is for indoor storage, outdoor use, transport, display, or service work. This context guides decisions about fit, access, installation, cleaning, storage, and materials.

Projects can begin from drawings, photos, measurements or reference samples — a complete technical package is not required to start the review.

What to Prepare

Provide the product name, model, dimensions, and reference photos. Explain which surfaces need protection and identify openings, handles, mirrors, consoles, rails, or other features that may affect the cover shape.

For private-label projects, also include quantity, packaging, labeling, logo files, instructions, samples, and any requested testing or compliance documents.

Review Checklist

  • Product and model details, with dimensions and reference photos.
  • Intended application: indoor storage, outdoor use, transport, display or service work.
  • Preferred materials or required characteristics.
  • Seams, closures, straps, openings, reinforcement, lining, color, finish and branding.
  • Approved drawings and measurements.
  • Sample revisions and the approved sample.
  • Packaging and labeling requirements.
  • Inspection requirements and any requested testing or compliance documents.

Confirming these points before production gives a clear record and helps identify changes early. Final construction details are confirmed for each project.

Pattern, Sample & Approval Implications

The approved brief becomes the basis for pattern development and the sample. Sample arrangement, sample charges and revisions are confirmed with you for each project, and production is planned after sample approval and order confirmation. MOQ, price, lead time, certifications, trade terms and test results are confirmed for each project and inquiry.
